As part of the CONCACAF U-17 Championship, qualifier for the FIFA World Cup to be held in India this year (6 to 28 October 2017), our young Grenadiers were severely defeated Thursday on the lawn of the Maracana Stadium by Honduras [3-1].

After their modest victory against Curaçao [0-1] https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-20728-icihaiti-concacaf-u-17-championship-defeat-of-the-grenadiers-against-curacao-[1-0].html , a draw against Panama [0-0] https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-20765-haiti-concacaf-u-17-championship-haiti-panama-[0-0].html this defeat eliminates our national selection U-17, champion of the Caribbean, which leaves by the small door by ranking last of the Group A:

Panama: 7 points

Honduras: 6 points

Curaçao: 3 points

Haiti: 1 point

The match had however started well for the protected of the Brazilian coach Rafael Dias Novaes, by scoring a first goal of Obenson Léveillé to the 10' [1-0], score unchanged at halftime.

In the second half, the Grenadiers have hit Honduras without being able to increase their slender lead, before cashing a lopez's equalizer shot at 70 '[1-1]. If everything was still possible for Haiti, a Mejia goal in the 82' gives the advantage to Honduras [2-1] which sinks further Haiti to a few seconds from the end of full time with a goal of Palma, bringing the score in favor of Honduras [3-1] unchanged at the end of the match.
